On Saturday 12th March 2016 Black Country Triathletes held their 1st Wombourne Spring Aquathlon event at Wombourne Leisure Centre. This was a 400 metre pool swim followed by a 5k off road run. 

There was a slight change to the course that I have raced many times over the years in their winter aquathlon event, held in December.

However after a quick look at the course I felt confident I'd be ok. 

The swim went well, just under 5 minutes then a little leg stretch along the poolside before placing the wet feet into the trainers, grabbing the race belt and off outdoors for the run.

Thankfully it was much warmer than the usual chill you experience in the winter race. So out onto the field before dropping onto the disused railway line and up to the turnaround point.

The legs were feeling a little wobbly but I dug deep and headed for the finish line.

I finished the race with a little smile for the camera, crossing and finishing in 23:37 resulting in my 3rd aquathlon WIN for this year.
